Well here is any easy guide that will make things easier in the fact that the research is done for you. Here are the top ten niche content website tools. Oh let me explain what content tools are before I go and give you a list of them. Website tools will help you with things like finding a topic for your article or newsletter, researching keywords, setting up a website including domain name, hosting and design, finding content for your article, website or newsletter and how to drive more traffic to your website. Okay so now that is out of way, here is the list for you. Now I have my own niche website and I use Bravenet for all my website tools. Now you can use whatever site you want or a combination of sites but I will just explain to you what each website tool is and its function.
Hit Counter- I think all websites should have a hit counter. Most hit counters will come with your website stats. You can make you counter look the way you want as well as add, delete or edit your hit counter. There is nothing to download either. You just take the HTML code and insert it wherever you want your counter to appear. You can track how many visitors you get each day and how many are either first time or returning visitors.
Guest Books- These are a must for every website. They are easy to install on your webpage. All you do is copy and paste the code onto your webpage. You can have it play music with a midi file. The best part of guest books is that when you get too much or any spam, you can control who signs your guest books and who doesn’t by banning IP’s that are hogging up your guestbook with spam.
Speaking Characters- I think these are the cutest tools every made for niche content websites. You can have one on your home page to greet your visitors and provide them with information on where things are on your website. Your guests will love the enhanced user experience.
Traffic Exchange- This is a great way to drive more traffic to your website. You place your code on other niche related website with their permission and they do the same thing with your website. So it is a win-win situation.
Guest Maps- I have one of these on my website and it is such an interesting tool. When guests come to your website, you have a map on there and they post on the map where they are from. It is so interesting to see where your guests are from.
Mailing Lists- This is a great tool if you send out a newsletter. Guests who visit your site can add their name and email and automatically get added to your mailing list. So even if you don’t have a newsletter, you can send out notices or upcoming specials.
This Day in History- This is another neat tool in that you can customize the day in history to your website niche. So if you have a real estate website, your day in history will be all about real estate items.
Horoscopes- This may not be the most professional thing but it is nice to have something cute on your website. Everyone loves horoscopes so why not have one automatically post each day for your guests.
Forums- Forums are a great for your guests to interact with each other and to drive constant traffic to your website. But as with guest books, you do need to control the spam that is on your forums.
Widgets- You can have a widget where your guests can do site searches. If they are looking for summer homes, for example, they can type that in the search box and it will bring them to the part of your website that has summer homes.
